Review: The Santa Clause trilogy

The Santa Clause film trilogy, consisting of The Santa Clause, The Santa Clause 2, and The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause, concerns the tale of Scott Calvin, who, after discovering the red coat of the previous Satnta Claus, becomes the red man himself after donning the coat. It is a tale of magic, family, and contract law.

This Christmas film series is altogether a mediocre set. The first movie was okay, as was the second, and the third could have been better. The entirely secular view of Christmas does not help the movie's case, neither does it's refusal to address the logic of Christmas presents which the parents know they did not buy appearing. I understand why the first movie is often seen as a classic, and of all of them I think it has the best humor. These, along with Toy Story, Toy Story 2, and The Shaggy Dog are the only movies of Tim Allen's which I have seen, so I don't have much of a standard by which set them. On the whole, these movies are family friendly fare, but don't expect much more from them than that.
