Today's verse on Bible Verse Sunday is Ecclesiastes 4:12:
"And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken."
The ESV Study Bible has this to say about the verse:
"A threefold cord stands for the great value of "plurality" (more than one or even two) as opposed to being alone (vv. 7-11)."
Today's sermon in the main service was the first installment in a series on the book of Romans. The pastor gave a general overview of the book, focusing on what which parts were about, and then going over the early bits of chapter 1. He said that we are set apart for the gospel, and that the Roman believers' faith was reported all over the world. also, we are to be mutually encouraged by each other's faith.
In the High School service, there was a chili cook off, in which my dear sister Rebekah participated. I tasted several delicious bowls of chili, plus lemonade and cornbread. When it came time for the sermon, the youth pastor also continued in his own series on Romans, preaching from chapter 8 of that wonderful book. He talked about how a Christian should live, and what we have to look forward to as Christians. In both of these previous services, the pastors talked about Russel Wilson's Christians faith, expressed in this one interview video that both services showed. Which leads us to the next order of business...
Today was the day of Superbowl XLVIII (or Superbowl 48)! We packed up our food and went to my grandparents' residence where we met up with several of our other relatives. We had a rollicking good time pigging out on good food and cheering on our favorite team, the Seahawks! I wore my Seaauk (that's not a misprint) jersey and my Seahawks baseball cap all day long. You all probably know that they soundly defeated the Broncos, but I'm going to say so anyway! The Seahawks utterly defeated, crushed, and obliterated the Broncos 43 to 8! For a team used to being the underdog, it was something to behold. I'll remember this day for many years to come, and I'm sure you all will to. Go Hawks!
